Meet Sabrina Halvorson.

Sabrina Halvorson is a 30-year veteran of the media industry. With most of that time spent in broadcasting, she has worked in both television and radio, as well as traditional print and digital.

Sabrina grew up in Central California, where she worked at her father’s bi-weekly newspaper as a teen. At 19, she was hired on as the education and agriculture reporter at the daily newspaper in a nearby city. Three years later, she moved to Fresno and was brought on as a reporter and producer for a news radio and television station. For more than 20 years, she reported hard news on the radio and television while also writing feature articles for magazines.

During her news career, she was often called in to report on major crimes such as the disappearance and murder of Laci Peterson through the arrest and conviction of Laci’s husband, Scott Peterson; the disappearance and murders of three Yosemite hikers, and the murder of a separate fourth victim, through the arrest and conviction of Cary Stayner; and the family killing spree of mass murderer Marcus Wesson. She also reported on political and national happenings such as the Clinton Impeachment, the September 11 attacks, and the war in Iraq.

In 2012, Sabrina switched her focus from hard news to agriculture news with a focus on policy and politics. She continues her news career in network radio as the National Correspondent for AgNet Media and is heard daily on weekdays in seven states. She also writes for several magazines.

Trusted News

In 2020, Sabrina was among a small group of reporters from around the nation to be invited to participate in the Trusting News Project from the Reynolds Journalism Institute and the American Press Institute. The project selects a handful of participants each year for the program which aims to “empower journalists to take responsibility for actively demonstrating credibility and earning trust.” The goal is to increase public trust in news reporting through accuracy, integrity, and transparency.

Sabrina has won several awards either individually or as leader of a news team, including the RTNDA Best Newscast, Edward R. Murrow Award, and Emmys.

Thrilling Fiction

Her two decades in hard news introduced Sabrina to many aspects of the human psyche. She taps into that first-hand experience while writing fiction to help bring her characters alive. She completed her first novel when she was 25, though she didn’t pursue publication for it. In the 20 years since that time, Sabrina discovered a fascination for writing much darker stories. When she needs to lighten up, she writes sweet romance novellas.

Sabrina now lives in North Dakota with her husband, Rusty. She has two grown children, Jonathon and Aria, who are the highlight of her life.
